BACKGROUND

When it comes to habits of consumption, our bodies and minds tend to slip into familiar patterns. For instance, we might crave a coffee in the morning, drink alcohol at a sports game or enjoy some comfort food while watching late-night TV. We often hear ‘moderation’ touted by health experts but what does this look like in practice, and how do we know when and if we’ve gone too far? An insight into how some of our lifestyle choices can impact our physical and mental wellbeing may hold the key.

objective

This thought-provoking and practical session explores the mechanisms for setting healthy goals and for turning them into long-term habits. It avoids prescribing simplistic solutions and simply provides motivating mind-body insights and evidence-based techniques to engage participants into setting goals, developing action plans and applying their own judgments based on the impacts of their lifestyle choices.

The differences between conscious decisions to abstain from unhealthy behaviours (e.g. unbalanced nutrition, smoking, excessive drinking etc), compulsions and habits will be explored, for the purposes of helping participants to set an action plan that is sustainable and helps achieve ‘the right mix’ for the long term.
